SYNOPSIS
The movie is based on testimonials by family, friends and former soccer players such as Pelé, Alfredo Di Stefano, Franz Beckenbauer, Pachín and Raymond Kopa; and it goes through the biography of Ferenc Puskás (1927-2006). In a way, Puskás life is a parallel of the shaken political and social situation that Hungary lived from the Russian invasion in 1956, up until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. DIRECTOR (Tamás Almási, Hungary. 1948) Tamás Almási is one of the most recognized Hungarian documentarist. He has worked as assistant director with István Szabó, Miklós Jancsó and Zoltán Fábri. He graduated from the Film and Theatre Academy in Budapest in 1979. He started his career as a film director, which has greatly impacted his documentaries. To this date, he has made more than forty full length documentaries, as well as some films which have affected greatly his documentary filmmaking. His works have been projected in various prestigious festivals in Europe and on an international scale, earning Almási numerous awards and nominations. His films have reached almost forty different countries.
